Spike crash in File Browser dialog window

I am a new user, and have installed Spike 3.0.22 on Windows 7, connecting to a BB60C with firmware 7. All is going well except when I try to use a file browser dialog window to save to a file. Anytime a “Save File…” window opens, Spike will crash a few seconds later.

For example, I can do a Quick Save Image, but trying Save As Image crashes Spike when the file browser dialog window opens. I can click the Record button on the “Zero Span” layout, and this saves a file to the default directory correctly, but if I click the “Browse” button to choose a location for the file, Spike crashes in the “Select Record Directory” dialog box.

If I bring up the debugger it says that I had an unhandled exception in the ntdll library.

I can’t find any entries in the forum with this problem – is this just my machine or is it a known problem?

I have seen this problem before with a few other customers and have been unable to track this issue down. I have spent several hours searching for a solution to this, and most searches lead me to believe there is some issue with the PC system configuration. I will link the google results for a reasonable search term for this, and you can find this problem across the board for a large number of applications.

The ntdll library which you noted, is the Microsoft Win32 library responsible for the file dialog (among other things).

For other customers with this issue, they have been able to get around it by installing the 32bit version of the software instead of the 64bit version, or vice-versa. Give that a shot, and see if this allows you to save files. http://www.signalhound.com/Spike for the latest software.
