NomeParticipantI’m trying to run Signal Hound Spike 4.0.17 on Ubuntu 26.04.1 LTS, but it crashes during MATLAB Runtime initialization when lte using.
Environment
– Computer: Dell Precision 3650, Intel x86-64
– OS: Ubuntu 26.04.1 LTS, GNOME/Wayland
– glibc: 2.43
– MATLAB Runtime: R2021b Update 8, version 9.11.0.2911900
– Runtime location: /usr/local/MATLAB/MATLAB_Runtime/v911Assertion in insert at management.cpp line 401:
Type ‘(anonymous namespace)::FrameworkShutdownHolder’ already insertedMATLAB is exiting because of fatal error
libmwfoundation_usm.so
mwCppMicroServicesShutdownHook.so
libmwstartup_plugin_initializer.so
libmwMVMLocal.so
libmwmvm.so
libmwmclbase.so → mclInitializeApplication
libspike_ml_api.so → SpikeMLInternalInitializeTroubleshooting performed
1. Selected Qt’s xcb backend because the application only includes that platform plugin.
2. Added MATLAB Runtime directories to LD_LIBRARY_PATH.
3. Preloaded system FreeType to resolve the missing FT_Get_Color_Glyph_Layer symbol.
4. Preloaded system GLX and C++ libraries. Loader diagnostics confirmed that MATLAB’s bundled libstdc++.so.6 lacked GLIBCXX_3.4.26, which the system Mesa driver requires.
5. Cleared executable-stack flags on runtime libraries that blocked loading and on MATLAB startup plugins, preserving backups.
6. Moved backups outside the startup plugin directory.
7. Tested a fresh MCR_CACHE_ROOT.
The executable-stack and C++ version errors were resolved, but the FrameworkShutdownHolder assertion persists.
I understand Ubuntu 26.04 is outside the listed supported platforms for MATLAB Runtime R2021b.
Has anyone encountered this assertion with Spike or another MATLAB-compiled application? Is there a known workaround for this environment, or a newer Spike build with a runtime compatible with Ubuntu 26.04?
I can provide the complete crash report and loader diagnostics.- AuthorPosts
