VSG as tracking generator

Hello,
since VSG provides continuous wave, is it possible to use it as a tracking generator for scalar network analysis, instead of TG?

Hi Jan,

We do not have integrated support for this. We don’t have hardware/firmware level support on the VSGs for the sync trigger. You could manually sweep the VSG and SA to effectively use it for scalar network analysis but it will be much slower.

Hi Jan,

I have a VSG25A and I use the multi-tone feature to see the behavior of filters. I throw into the output many tones close to each other in the bandwidth that I want.

If you use Arthur’s suggestion, a parabolic phase relationship gives you the best dynamic range.
