jbluffParticipantI’m having trouble reliably connecting to my SA124B (opt2).
After installing the USB drivers and Spike, I plugged in the SA and the light came on, green. When I start Spike, the light turns red, and eventually spike says the device wasn’t found. I can close spike and the light stays red. IF I leave spike open, and unplug and replug in the SA, the light is green, and in spike I can connect to the device using File->Connect, and get reasonable traces out.
Why is this?
I’m also getting “Device not found” errors when I try to open a connection using the API, though when I request the list of connected serial numbers my device appears. I assume these two problems are related. Any advice?
Thanks
Jacob
AndrewModeratorHi Jbluff,
A couple quick questions. What happens when you launch the software (with the device plugged in and the light green) after the device has been plugged in for many minutes? Does the software find the device first try then? Also, does the API ever find the device? Even after many minutes of being plugged in?
The Option 2 is unique in that it needs to be plugged into the PC for several minutes before warming up to be operational. I want to rule that out as a possibility first.
Feel free to email me at aj@signalhound.com if you prefer email.

AndrewModeratorHello again Jacob,
Another question. Have you recently purchased this device or is this a device you have owned for awhile and are now seeing this behavior with the Spike software?
Regards
mervin2014ParticipantHi AJ, I did encountered this issue yesterday when I first turned on my unit. The solution is installing the usb driver included on the spike software package download. I am now using it without any hitch so far.
Regards and hope you will soon able to use your unit as well.
CliffParticipantThe original SA software (2.1d) worked on my Dell Venue 8 Pro 5830 almost flawlessly but subsequent Spike versions have progressively worsened communication between the SA and the Dell.
The first 32 bit Spike 3.0.2 on the Venue 8 was iffy recognizing the SA and for the most part leaving the status indicator pulsing orange and no communications. After multiple attempts the SA would connect but subsequent powering down would duplicate the original fault again in multiples.
The latest version 3.0.3 won’t connect at all even after multiple attempts, reboots, reloading the drivers, changing power settings and USB cables. I have noticed on occasion the status indicator steady green and yet no communication is taking place.
I have removed and reinstalled the program and supplied drivers to no avail. Spike opens up and all appears where it should be on screen but no connectivity via the USB … What am I overlooking in this quest, does anyone have any suggestions ?
I’ve also done the waiting for things to stabilize because I to have option 1 on the SA44B. The SA works great on my HP 4560s Probook Win7 but on my Dell is not communication through USB at all.

Hello Cliff,
We have the exact same Dell Venue model in our shop and we have experienced this problem. We solved this by using one of our SA124 y-cables and only using the data portion of the y. We will ship you a y-cable if you do not have one so you can use the device with your Dell tablet. Call me at 1-800-260-TEST Ext. 2 from 8-3 PST and I can set you up with a free cable.
