Ivan IonovParticipantI power on BB60c, in an our or so it slowly heats from +20 to +40C. It looks like every 2 degrees the SNA analysys resets calibration and requre me to do it again. This makes measurements in first 1-2 hours very unconfortable. 🙁
Let me decide by myself, when I want to recalibrate it again. Show me warning that tempearture has changed and the measurements could possibly drift, but don’t loose calibration automaticaly, this makes me as a user very angry. To make recalibration, I need to reconfigure my setup, this takes some time, and I simply have have not enough time for actual measurements before calibration is lost again.
And please don’t loose calibration when I change Ref and Div parameters.
Idealy, I’d like to have an initial permanent store thru calibration, which never expires and never resets with any change of parameters (freq range, num of points, Ref, Div…). It can collect 20k of points, take 5-10 minutes to do this and interpoate calibration data when nesessary. That will always give me on start of a program nice clean flat line with may be +-1dB ripple. Later I can do temporary store thru for better accuracy (like it is now).
AndrewModeratorHi Ivan,
I have some comments on your feedback. The BB60C will rise to operating temperature when the device is connected to the PC via USB, even if the software is not running. If it is possible, you can connect the unit a bit before you plan to use it, allowing the unit to reach full operating temperature. This will eliminate the annoying re-calibrations. Although, I do agree that it would be better to allow the user to re-calibrate it manually.
I believe you can change the div setting without losing the re-calibration currently. I will determine if this is possible with the reference setting as well in the future.
I agree that with more development, calibrations could be handled in a more consistent manner. If you are able to warm up the unit before your measurements I hope this will eliminate most of the issues you have with this.
Thank you for your feedback as always.
Regards,
A.J.

Hello Andrew, thanks for reply.
Warm up can be a temporary solution, but I hope you will fix this in some time.
No, when I change div setting it does reset my calibration.
Also I’ve noticed, when I remember several traces (I tune antenna, or compare several antennas with directional coupler) and switch analisys to VSVR mode, only last trace is recalculated from dBm to VSVR. As a result, I can’t compare antennas both in dBm view and in VSVR view without redoing all measurements again.
AndrewModeratorHi Ivan,
There is a new release today. You will see in the release notes, the release yesterday adds the feature that the software will not re-cal when temperature drifts when making scalar measurements. Please note, that accuracy will drift several dB as the device is warming up.

Ivan IonovParticipantThank you!
It works much better now. 🙂- This reply was modified 9 years, 5 months ago by
