Frequently Asked Questions

Click to expand each of the questions below:

Is Windows 7/XP supported?

No. While our software may run on older Windows machines, we are not able to test or support its operation.

Are other Linux distributions supported?

We compile specifically on the specified version of Ubuntu. We also ship with our software most of the libraries our software requires. For this reason, our customers have had success running our software on many Linux based systems in the Debian family. Despite this, we can only test and support the version specified.

What are the USB requirements to run the VNA400?

The VNA requires a USB-C link that can support 15W of power output and standard USB 2.0 data rates. Signal Hound recommends Thunderbolt 3+ ports which by default support 15W power delivery and the data rates necessary. Non Thunderbolt USB-C ports that cannot deliver 15W should not be used with the VNA400. USB-C hubs with an external power supply such as the Anker 332/555 can be used to power the VNA400.

Can the software be used in a virtual machine?

Signal Hound does not test or support the use of virtual machines with our software.
